Elizabeth Macdonald, viola da gamba, teaches
cello and viola da gamba at Washington University in St. Louis, where she is
Director of Strings and conductor of the chamber orchestra. As principal cellist
of the Scottish Baroque Ensemble of Edinburgh, Ms. Macdonald has toured most
of the countries of both Western and Eastern Europe. Among her recordings are
a number for the British Broadcasting Corp. Ms. Macdonald studied cello with
Janos Starker at Indiana University and viola da gamba with Catharina Meints
at the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute.
